What to expect
Bible Study
Our congregation begins gathering at 9:45 for Adult and Children’s Sunday School, which last for about 45 minutes each. The Children’s Sunday School is held in the children’s room in our sanctuary. Our Children’s Ministry Director is currently walking through the Bible with the children. We have several Bibles intended for children that can be utilized in the service. We also have children’s corner during service where children are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary for a specific lesson based on that week’s Sermon topic.
The Adult Bible study is exegetical in nature – meaning that we strive to dive deeply into Scripture, tackling easy and challenging passages alike and placing them in their appropriate historical context. We seek to connect the types and shadows presented in the Old Testament with how God has revealed the ultimate plan of Redemption through His Son, Jesus Christ. Past studies include:
-
Walking through the books of Kings/Chronicles and looking deeply into how the people of the Bible lived and how the stories contained in these books are much more than ‘fables’
-
Spiritual Warfare - what is it, and what is it not
-
A 1-year study on the ‘Attributes of God’ – who is God, how do we know He is God and what differentiates Him from His creation. Pastor Ray spent 50 weeks explaining the scriptural background that helps us know and understand who God is – and how other aspects of salvation, sanctification, and the life of Jesus have given us hints about the amazing Creator of the Universe.
-
Church History- how did we get the Bible, how do we understand the development of Christian theology, what are the historical errors/heresies and how do we respond to them today?
-
What is the Trinity?- Where do we get the Trinity from and how do we defend it?
These studies aim to tackle specific topics to strengthen and deepen the faith of the body of Christ and help address the issues we face on a day-to-day basis.
15 Minute Break – 10:30 – 10:45
Assuming we can maintain a schedule and cut short the discussion, we usually have about 15 minutes of fellowship between Bible Study and the main service. During this time, it is encouraged to grab some coffee, a tasty baked good as a snack, and to catch the restroom before you stake a claim to a seat in the main sanctuary.
Main Service
The main service begins at 10:45 and usually lasts until about 12:15. We do not have any kind of ‘dress code’ – and you will see a variety of jeans and t-shirts to business casual.

What about kids?
We do not do a Children’s Church and separate our children from the main service. We feel that it is important for them to have the opportunity to watch their parents worship and learn to participate in the community. That being said, we do provide a Nursery where children under the age of 4 will be cared for (if desired). Parents may join their children in the nursery. We have audio of the service in the nursery, so even if you prefer hanging out with your kids - you won’t miss out.

Liturgy
“Liturgy” is a fancy word for ‘how we do church’. Our liturgy is a combination of responsive reading, Scripture reading, prayers, and songs. There is a specific time for children where Esther, our children’s ministry director, will ensure that the children of the congregation can make a connection with the overall sermon message. Her short message is engaging and piggy-backs on the same theme that Pastor Ray will provide later. We seek to place the love of God into the hearts of our kids, so we sing a special song for them each week (usually a traditional hymn) so that they can imprint the beautiful Words of God through the ages into their hearts and memories.
At Covenant Fellowship, we preach through the books of the Old and New Testament in an expository manner, explaining the text and providing historical context and personal applicability of the passage to our daily lives. This method means that we could cover most of a chapter or even just a couple of verses in a single Sunday. We treat the Scriptures as a beautiful gem, which when held up to the light, will glitter as each of its facets capture the light and send it into the eyes and minds of the believer.

Worship Style
Our worship is a combination of traditional hymns, modernized hymns, and a select group of modern worship. We guarantee that we sing songs to God that you haven’t heard before and utilize a combination of hymnals and slides to assist everyone to join in song. We are a congregation of singers and we encourage everyone to participant in singing along with us – thus we facilitate our musical arrangements (with piano, organ, guitars and sometimes drums) to ensure that the congregation can join the worship leaders in song. Our hope is that you are comfortable enough to sing loudly and proudly to our Creator God – because worship is not for us to sit back and enjoy – it is an opportunity for all of us to join together to commit the words of Truth to memory.
